Sitges – an international wedding destination

Sitges is becoming an increasingly popular choice as a wedding destination for couples from all around the world but especially from Northern European countries, the USA, Canada and Australia. This charming old fishing village on the Catalan coast in North Eastern Spain is often referred to as the ‘St. Tropez of Spain’, and yet in many ways it has a much broader appeal than its more illustrious French counterpart.

Like St. Tropez, Sitges evolved from a sleepy Mediterranean fishing village into a bohemian enclave popular with artists and followers of 1960s counterculture. Wedding venues in Sitges

Most couples choose to marry at a venue just outside of Sitges. The area around Sitges offers beautiful unspoilt countryside and borders on the vineyards of the Penedes wine region, which supplies grapes to the world-famous Cava houses such as Freixenet and Cordoniu,

Set amongst these vineyards, and just a few kilometers outside of Sitges, are a number of stunning old manor houses (often called Masias) and wine bodegas now beautifully restored into high-quality venues for weddings and events.

These magnificent historic houses offer the perfect location for romantic weddings amongst a backdrop of vineyards and beautiful countryside. Some even offer sea views.

As well as hosting the wedding celebrations, most of these venues also offer on-site accommodation for wedding guests with sleeping capacities typically ranging between 20 and 40 guests. The accommodation is of very high quality and mostly in ensuite rooms. All have fantastic swimming pools to entertain guests both before and after the celebrations.
